Students learn in a variety of ways and all of our courses feature the
VARK model for learning which includes
the four core learning styles of
Visual,
Auditory,
Reading and writing, and
Kinesthetic.
-
Visual Learners - Visual learners absorb information best when they can visualize relationships and ideas. Maps, charts, arrows, diagrams, symbols and even essays work well for visual learners. Visual learners thrive with clear pictures of information hierarchy.
Visual learners remember what they see.
-
Auditory Learners - Auditory learners or "aural" learners learn best by listening to information rather than reading it or seeing it visually displayed. Auditory learners prefer listening to information that is presented to them vocally. They may listen to a video more than watching it and they may enjoy reading aloud to themselves or talking about it with someone else.
Auditory learners remember what they hear.
-
Reading & Writing Learners - Reading and writing learners focus on the written word. They learn best and prefer to consume information by reading texts, worksheets, presentations, and other text-heavy resources. These learners are note-takers and absorb information by condensing and rephrasing it. Traditional textbooks and annotation works best for these students.
Reading and writing learners remember what they read or write.
-
Kinesthetic Learners - Kinesthetic learners or "hands-on" learners like to take a physically active role in their learning. They learn best by doing and participating in activities or solveing problems in a hands-on approach.
Kinesthetic learners remember what they do.
